Lots of good deals on Halifax hotels

Halifax landed at the top of the national list of hotel discounts maintained by Hotwire.com on Wednesday, with a 15 per cent drop in rates at some properties.
It means the discount travel site monitored a significant drop in rates for some available rooms, but the locations of the hotels with the low rates are not identified.

RIM’s Blackpad set to take on iPad

Our investigative team found that RIM owns the domain blackpad.com – and so the story starts…
First we heard that RIM would make a tablet that would have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and arrive by December. Then we heard that RIM bought the domain Blackpad.com. The latest comes from Bloomberg, which on Friday posted a report citing two anonymous sources saying RIM’s Blackpad is coming by November–and it’s coming to take on Apple’s iPad. RIM plans to launch a 9.7″ tablet computer in November, according to Bloomberg.
Quoting two people familiar with RIM plans, Bloomberg report said that The device will support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and “allow people to connect to the Internet through their BlackBerry smartphones.”
Pilot of crashed jet out of hospital

One of Canada’s top jet fighter pilots has been released from hospital following the crash of his jet in Lethbridge, Alta., on Friday.
Capt. Brian Bews ejected from his CF-18 Hornet as the plane plunged toward the ground.
“He was very lucid and very clear after the ejection,” a fellow pilot said.
The crash happened as Bews was practicing for the Alberta International Airshow.
